and so, the saga continues. some years ago i lost my url, www.tenthmile.com, when the company i had registered it with (also my webhost) went out of business. at the time i emailed the company that now owned it (and turned it into one of those fake blogs that i still don’t understand the purpose of) sunstorm inc, and then randomly out of the blue about 4 months ago i get an email from them saying, inexplicably, that they’re willing to transfer the domain name back to me. as you can imagine, i was practically giddy. i’d gone blogless for years and had been kicking around the idea of starting a new one, and OMG YAY I GET MY DOMAIN NAME BACK? you have to understand, i’ve used this little nickname, tenthmile, for decades now. it came from a caedmon’s call song, another ten miles, and i have no explanation i just really like it, it stuck in my head.
so, i’m all excited, i start the process of transferring the domain. everything is done, all they had to do was approve it. they had something like a month after i paid for the transfer to do so.
well, they didn’t. and they ignored all of my emails pleading them to just ANSWER THE DAMN EMAIL AND CONFIRM IT. and now it’s owned by someone else. some company called above.com. the name means nothing to anyone but me, and for reasons i don’t understand it was taken without my permission or knowledge even though it was already paid for, and i have no way of getting it back.
fu, internet.
well, not YOU. unless you’re sunstorm inc or above.com, in which case, seriously, fuck you.
